PARTNER UPDATE:

CANADIAN POSTAL STRIKE

Howdy Nice Partners,

Since Friday, November 15th, tens of thousands of postal workers across Canada have gone on strike, disrupting mail delivery ahead of the busy holiday season.

The strike impacts USPS shipments to Canada since they rely on Canada Post for final delivery. However, all other carriers shipping to Canada use different delivery networks and remain unaffected by the strike.

After reviewing our data and consulting with USPS contacts, here's what we know:

  • Union negotiations are underway, but there is no clear timeline for resolution.
  • USPS facilities are still accepting and processing Canadian post-marked mail as normal.
  • Mail from the U.S. is reaching Canada, however, Canada Post will not process or deliver packages until the strike ends.
  • We are seeing delivery scan delays with Canadian post-marked packages shipped since Monday, November 11th

What this means for you:

  • Nice Commerce and USPS are continuing to fulfill and ship all Canadian-marked orders as they come in.
  • Canada Post will resume deliveries once the strike is lifted, however, the backlog created by the strike could last weeks after operations resume
  • If you currently ship Canada orders via USPS, consider switching to a different carrier until strikes and delays are resolved.
  • Set realistic expectations with your Canadian customers by notifying them of possible delays during checkout and follow-up communications.

We'll continue to update you as we learn more. If you have additional questions or concerns about your Canada orders, reach out to your Account Manager, they'd be happy to help.

Riding the Q4 waves with you,

– The Nice Team
