USPS Surcharges - Update

First, the not-so-nice-news:

Despite many meetings with USPS contacts, managers, and higher-ups to honor their original commitment, USPS has reversed its stance on waiving holiday surcharges for our 3PL clients.

USPS holiday surcharges will apply to all packages from October 6, 2024, through January 19, 2025. 

On average, expect surcharges between 5-6.5% for domestic rates.

But thankfully, some NICE news:

After months of negotiations, we have successfully secured new lower standard rates with USPS! 

Even with the holiday surcharges, on average, our clients will be paying the same or less in domestic USPS shipping across all services (except First Class Mail) compared to previous rates without a surcharge.

While we're frustrated by the USPS surcharge reversal, we're proud to have secured long-lasting rate savings that will positively impact your Q4 and provide cost savings well into the future!

FedExHoliday Surcharges

Additionally, as of Monday, October 28th, FedEx introduced peak surcharges to affect all ground and express services through January 19, 2025. 

These surcharges are date-range dependent and will be applied as a flat rate per package. Additional surcharges will be applied to oversize and heavy packages – Nice Commerce will work to mitigate this as much as possible during order fulfillment.
